Despite the fact that Winzer Cleaners and General Motors were founded in the same year (1908), for the first ten years of our existence, we made our deliveries the old fashioned way – by horse drawn carriage.

We can only imagine the challenges our forbearers had in keeping their clients’ freshly cleaned clothes from picking up the very pungent odors of the horses that pulled the delivery trucks, but that’s a story for another day.

However, in honor of Winzer’s early support of the innovations of the American automotive industry, we’ve recently undertaken the restoration of a 1930 Chevy panel truck that we were able to locate on Ebay similar to the one in an old photo. While we have no plans to actually make pick ups and deliveries in it, we do plan to put it on display in our Bronx facility as soon as the restoration is complete and use it in parades, car shows and Broadway openings.

It’s apparent that we began by investing in innovative technologies to serve our clients, and that’s a practice that exends to this day. Our most recent investment is an IPURA cleaning system, the most energy efficient and gentle cleaning system on the market, and we’re currently investigating hybrid vehicles for pick ups and deliveries.
